Finally, how can ectaco continue to advertise the JBC as having a web browser when no such thing exists and no one has been told when it is to be implemented? Please escalate this issue to your manager if you have no answer.

Regards,

Brian

Looking back on your posts here, it would appear that you may be looking for something
other than the eReader that the JBC is. I know of no e-Ink display device that performs
well, or even acceptably, as a device to surf the web or as a multimedia device.

You are likely to be much happier with a LCD tablet.

Luck;

I would be happy with a simple browser. Obviously I wasn't expecting flashplayer. I was expecting opera like I mentioned in my original post and as illustrated on the ectaco website. Opera mobile or even opera mini if the JBC can run java. I think it is entirely reasonable that ectaco should address this issue and to be honest I think your comment is bit patronizing.

Since the last update I have found that the JBC hangs up more often and I have to use the reset button regularly. This is the warranty replacement for my first JBC and I am anxious that the firmware or operating system might be corrupted eventually. I am not confident in the reliability of the system as it stands. I get "critical fbreader errors" aswell.

The battery life is nowhere near 10,000 page turns with the wi-fi off. The usb connection is intermittent - a hit and miss affair that requires multiple re-insertions.

Finally, how can ectaco continue to advertise the JBC as having a web browser when no such thing exists and no one has been told when it is to be implemented? Please escalate this issue to your manager if you have no answer.

Hey,

If you notice the JBC hanging up or giving an error please let me know the last few functions you performed. Were you exiting a book? Changing font size? Using one of the programs?

Please note, from my understanding the 10K pages is quite accurate and was determined based on certain file type (while im not positive i think they tested it with ePub or TXT).

I know the Wi-Fi currently works on the unit but i have no further information. As always i will do my best to keep you all up to date on current releases.

Please note, you can always sent an email to the Ectaco management team at [email protected]

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I just had a look on the jetbook color specification website.
Now there is the line missing that a web browser is included!

Does that mean that the web browser functionality will not be delivered for our devices?

Please Jerry answer with information this time and not just evade the question as usual!

Hello Jerry,

I would not like to be in your position between a bad management and the customers.
I now wrote to the german office that the missing feature has to be delivered within a given time or that the device has to be refunded.

Not just refunded... Should be a lawsuit against the company.

I hope Ectaco knows about the legal situation in Germany and takes back the device without any trouble.
They had the chance for 2 tries of rework so the situation is clear. As goodwill I asked for a third rework within a certain time.
A lawsuit is hopefully not necessary.

I did not receive an answer from the German office right now. I still hope the best.

First answer was disappointing. They know about the problem and the might perhaps fix it in the future. Same type of answer as we get here.

All their answers are predictable. We are working on this, we do our best, we will see what we can do about this, this will be delivered in the next release, blah, blah, blah...

Hi All,

As always we are getting feedback from customers all over the world. We're doing out best to update the products based on requests.

Since the device is primarily used by schools and other educational institutions we are taking every step to make sure their are no security flaws or programming errors in the software. A security breach is the last thing we want especially considering they are being used by Military institutions.

We have offered accommodations to customers who are simply unhappy with their purchase.

IMPORTANT: the remainder of this thread can be used to discuss technical issues one may be having with a product. Feedback outside of this should go here https://www.ectaco.com/forums/show/405.page

and a jetBook color wishlist is here https://www.ectaco.com/posts/list/76241.page

You deleted my message because you don't like to hear the truth? You will get a lawsuit instead.

Komandor,

Your thread clearly violated the rules, plain and simple. Moreover this section is for technical assistance which you are providing none of. If you cherish your privilege to post on our forums i would re-read the rules before positing. Any post which is in violation of the rules will be removed. Multiple removals will result in a ban. Whether or not you are in violation of the rules is at my discretion.

Lets talk facts. Literally the majority of your posts are negative, community members are required to make positive contributions to the community at large in order to keep their posting privileges. You can make suggestions, in fact we recommend it, however it should be done in a way which will help our customers and our company.

How about some more facts... I see EVERY complaint about the jetBook Color. I am required to report them myself. I mean complaints on forums, blogs, customer support, tech support...Everything. Right now less then 1% of our customers have complained about not having a browser. You are in that statistic (although I'm not sure you even own one because i don't know who you are).

Also, the return rate on the jetBook color is in the bottom 3 lowest of any device we have sold in 22 years. In other words the percentage of products sold to returned is extremely low.

If you would like to post NEW feedback for us i would be more then happy to hear it and even make suggestions to our design team.

Hi Jerry,

we had a lot of constructive comments on this board. A lot of feature requests were posted ans also bug reports.
Some of the bugs are fixed now. Nearly no feature request was implemented for the end customer.

We only hear that it might happen in the future but closed user groups have priority.
Because I do not have the features I paid for after 3 month of waiting I requested the device to be taken back.

If we had some statements about timeplans when also the unprivileged customers get the features, the feedback would be better from other participants in the forum.

It's nice that a wishlist is implemented now and I hope users not returning the device will be happy with future updates since the device is still good.

I hope that your co workers in the sales department know about german law well enough to handle the returning fair for all sides.

Best regards,

Daniel
