I have one txt file on my jetbook (243KB) but when I try an add more files I get "The destination disc is full."
In Windows it says 100% of disc space used. Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks!!

Thanks for the message. it appears just as it sounds, all the storage space is taken up by books. You need to do the folowing:
1) Delete some books you have read already.
2) Move unused books from the device to the PC.
3) Purchase and use an SD card for storage up to 2GB.

Hope this helps!

I emptied everything from the unit and I still get that message. So now there is nothing on the thing and it still says "full."

Hey,

Thanks for the message.

Wow that is unusual. Do you have a jetBook (JB-5), jetBook Lite or jetBook Mini?

jetBook Lite. Now I see that's it's totally frozen, I put in a SD card but it won't open the folders on that or the empty folders on the regular disc. I hit "books" and can see the folders but they won't open. I can't go back either, it's just frozen.

Hi,

Ok thanks for the message. Please try the following.

1) Remove the SD card from the unit.
2) Remove all 4 AA batteries from the device.
3) Wait at least 15 minutes.
4) Replace the batteries.
5) After they are in please hit the reset button, It is a small hole on the back of the unit.
6) The unit should power up to the main screen that says "books, pictures, settings"
7) DO NOT replace the sd card. We want to eliminate that as a possible issue.
8) Try to add a book and see if you have the same issue.

Please let me know how everything turned out!

Hi,

Ok that is unusual. Their has to be something on there then i would assume or the drive was formatted incorrectly. We will try a few more things, if they don't work i will give you info for warranty replacement which is available assuming you received the product less then a year ago.

1) Plug the device into the pc.
2) Go into "my computer" or "Computer"
3) Double click on the drive for the jetBook. it should be E: or F: Drive.
4) You should see a few folders. Books, Pictures Et...
5) List the folders.
6) Hover your mouse over each of the folders and let me know the size of each.

Thanks!

Hi,

Ok please try or let me know the following.

1) You said you have one book on here. If that is the case i wonder why the books folder says 0 Bites? Did you try and add more books directly to that folder?
2) It seems like you have an older firmware version. To my knowledge the newer versions also have a folder that says "Adobe digital editions". If you don't have the folder you may need a firmware upgrade. Please check how to upgrade here. https://www.ectaco.com/posts/list/19980.page

Let me know how adding a book and updating the firmware works out for you.

all I get is "firmware update failed." I can't add any books. I already erased the one book I had, that's why the folders say 0 bytes.

Hi,

Ok lets move onto something else.

We will try to access the Diagnostics menu:
-Remove your SD card.
-Hold down three buttons, they are On/OFF, Menu and Font zoom. Your screen will turn on. Once it does release on/off button. (Continue to hold down font zoom and menu). It may take up to 30 seconds to enter the screen. Please try this more than once to assure it works.
-Once you are thee select and run #7 which says “restore factory defaults”
-After this is done please hit the "Reset" button and try it out.

Also, please let me know:
1) When was the item purchased. (If within a year we can issue a warranty replacement).
2) Are you located in the US or Canada? If not please let me know where.

Thanks!

I followed those steps but the diagnostic menu will only flash for a split second then the unit turns off.
I got this in Dec. 2010. I live in the US.
thanks

Hi,

Ok thanks for the message. I think its time for a warranty replacement on the unit. You are still within the warranty period for everything. Please do the following.

1) Send an email to our warranty department. The email is [email protected]
2) Please include your order number in the title. It will be on your invoice and starts with a 4.
3) Make sure you write in the body that i "Jerry" went through all diagnostics to no avail and give the forum thread https://www.ectaco.com/posts/list/67837.page
4) If the order was not placed with us please make sure you will have a proof of purchase available.
5) Please wait about 24-48 business hours for a response.

Thanks!
