Hi, does anybody ever face problem like this one? After sliding a new SD card into the slot of JetBook, SD Card Manager (under SETTING) shows that "No SD card inside". And if you turn to "Card Capacity" under System Settings, it tells the same thing "NO SD card inside". I've tried couple of times following instruction of sliding in the SD card with contact facing up and words facing down. It does not work on my JebBook. Any advice? Or may be I will need to send it back for repair. But this is a new set for I received it only yesterday by FedEx. thanks.

You might check that the SD card works and is formatted correctly, by
inserting it into a reader connected to your PC. It should appear as an
external drive and be assigned a drive letter. Right clicking on the drive
in "My Computer" should give you a formatting option and a "Properties"
option that will provide basic information on the SD card.

You might check that the SD card is 32GB or smaller (anything o

Hi, Ghosth, yes the Jetbook was on when I put the SD card in. It doesn't work. Then I tried the other way, turn off Jetbook, slide in SD card and turn it on. It doesn't work either.

One other thing, on mine, the contacts face down (toward the back of the
JBL) and the label is up (toward the screen side of the JBL).

Hi Ken, the SD card simply doesn't fit into the slot if I do this way (manual says I need to do the other way, i.e. contact face up and label down. Thks again for the advice, though.

It does sound like the hardware may be bad. Jerry can probably give you
the contact data for an RMA, Monday - wait isn't that Labor Day?, you
may have to wait until Tuesday.

Another thing I think I forgot to mention about the SD cards, I always
put an empty "Books" folder and an empty "Pictures" folder on the SD
cards that I use as my library of material for the JBL. I am not sure it
is absolutely required but I remember it as a requirement in the early
days of my use of the JBL.

I put my ebooks in theme folders (Mystery, SciFi, Fantasy, History, ect..)
on the SD card as well.

Hi HC,

Sorry about the difficulty with everything, after reading over the posts it does seems most like a hardware difficulty.

Please send an email directly to a tech support representative and they will be able to help you out. They will be open first thing Tuesday morning. The email is [email protected] or you can call directly to 718-728-3605. if you ordered it directly at ectaco.com please have your order number or invoice handy. If elsewhere all you will need is your proof of purchase for the replacement.

Hope this helps!

Hi Jerry & Ken,

I have tried out making folders on the SD card using PC. Use back same SD card with JB, the message "No SD card inside" message pops up again. I will send email to with copy of invoice to Phil on Tues. Once again, appreciate very much for all your efforts in helping me out. Cheers.

Hey,

No problem! In the meantime i thought of another posible solution although it may be a long shot. Please do the following.

1) Back up all books and files on yoru SD card AND device. This should erase everything.
2) Reset the device.
3) Press on/off, zoom and the folder button at the same time.
4) Release only the on/of when the device powers up.
5) When you see a 16# screen release all buttons (can take 60 seconds to show up).
6) With the SD card in perform #13
7) Then with the SD card in perfform #7.
8) press the reset, remove the card and try again.

Please let me know if this works!

Another longshot -

Check your card to assure it is an SD card rather than an MMC card.
They are both the same size, but the SD card has an additional contact strip.
Most computers can read both MMC and SD cards, but the JB can not read MMC.
