Hey,
Thanks for the message and sorry to hear about the difficulty. Please try to reset the unit with the micro SD card out of the device to make sure it is not causing any issues.
If still no luck, try the update. First do the OS update and then the Firmware. http://www.jetbook.net/update/jetbookcolor
If it still gets caught up let me know exactly where and when.
Hope this helps!

Hi Jerry,
I found the reason why teh update was not going.
As stating onf the update page, I had connected the jetbook color via USB in order to avoid disruption during the update, BUT I had connected it to my PC using a standard USB cable.
However, when the Jetbook is on and you connected it to your PC through USB, it unmount the SD card, so I have the feeling that it unmount the SD card directly at startup if you connect it to PC through USB cable.
If I don't connect it at all to my PC, the update is starting. For now it's about 1/4....

Hi Jerry,
Update finished successfully.
So, as a conclusion, do not put your Jetbook into your PC's USB port for running an update. You have to use an specific USB charger only or an USB cable without data wires but only with power wires.

Have done the latest update and everything works fine - but is there a way to turn off the status bar banner when reading books and PDF's? I bought a large screen reader for the screen real estate and don't want to lose even that much when viewing my PDFs. This is new as of this latest update, before the PDF was full screen.

Hi,
Press the menu button in the book. Navigate towards the bottom of the menu. Select 'full screen'.
Hope this helps!

Sorry, you are right - full screen fixes the problem - I was trying zoom 100%. Thanks!

Yes, you can just change the poweroff.jpg image in the root folder. Hope this helps!
