JBL turning off and then on!

When I turn my JBL off, it turns back on and jumps to the main page. When I turn it off again it stays off. But when I turn it on again, I have to go through the process of hitting the books tab and when it goes to the book list it does not go back to the book and the page I was reading, I have to start all over again. I tried doing a soft reset, but it does not change this process.
My JBL has been working great for over a year, this started 2 days ago, and it frustrates me. I have to write down what page I stopped reading so I can find my place again.

I would first try this:

1. With your JBL on, poke the reset button on the back.
2. Remove the batteries for ten minutes or so.
3. Poke and hold the reset button for six seconds, while
the batteries are out.
4. Replace the batteries and use the "On/Off button" as
you normally do after a battery change.

Then, if that doesn't fix it try the same thing but have the
USB cord powering the JBL while you do so.

After that it would be to the "Diagnostic Screen" options to
"Restore factory options"
