Hi, I am at work so I was only able to quickly browse the topics before creating this post...

The problem I am having is that I cannot get past the main menu (where you have the options for Books, Pictures, Settings). When I click on Books, it tries to go (shows the large Book icon screen, flashes LED) then dumps me back to main menu (after which I am stuck - seems unresponsive to button presses).

I tried with and without my SD card inserted. Full battery. I tried resetting the unit using the pin hole. After no luck with that, I went into the diagnostics menu and reset the unit to factory defaults - still no go.

Since I only have an SDHC (not regular SD) card with me at work, I am unable to try re-installing the firmware as my last resort. Anyone know what to do before I have to request a replacement?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Thanks for the question. I would try a master reset, take the batteries out and leave them out for at least 10 minutes and then replace them and reset.

if that does not work then you should try a firmware update. The diagnostics screen is usually a last resort before the firmware update but you tried that already.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your suggestions, but neither procedures worked.

Luckily, I've only had this unit for a month, so I just received an RMA - so it's going back to the e-tailer for a replacement tomorrow. Hopefully mine was one of few defective units...

I'll be sure to post a follow-up report on how the replacement unit does for everyone.

Just wanted to update any readers following this topic - I was unable to get a replacement unit since it was out of stock (bought from NewEgg). So, I just received a refund.

While I would have loved to have a perfectly working Jetbook Lite, because I was not able to get a replacement unit for the bargain price that was offered by NewEgg at the time I purchased the unit combined with the experience of the defective unit itself, I decided to try another brand around the price point of the Jetbook Lite - even though I really enjoyed the supported file formats, features and ergonomics of the Jetbook Lite that is very unique/well thought out.

Hey,

Did you have a jetBook Lite Red color? We ran out of stock of that color a few months ago however we have the jetBook Lite in 3 other colors.

It would have been a better idea to go directly through us for the Warranty, as the manufacturer we replace the unit for free with a brand new one of its type.

Sorry to hear you chose another product, if you or a family member decides on a jetBook in the future please feel free to send me a PM (private message) on here and i will see what i can do in the way of a deal for one. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for posting this, it is really helpful to know this beforehand. Is this a common problem then or was you just unlucky to get a defective one?
Thanks, kind regards, Michelle
