Hi All,
Ive had my JBL for 6 months after buying it 2nd hand off someone on ebay. Loved it untill yesterday. Out reading it in a park and I tripped and it went into the water, Not for long only a couple of seconds. I have tried to dry it out and I believe there is no more water in , But It will not boot up. Is it dead for all time and do I need to buy a new one.
I would be very happy for all help

Hey,
Sorry to hear about the JBL!
From my experience when an item gets wet (any item) do the following. [Note i have done this successfully with phones and other gadgets]
DISCLAIMER: this is not guaranteed to work with any electronic. You are doing the following at your own risk and are 100% liable for any outcomes.
1) Once a product gets submerged immediately remove any batteries, SD cards, SIM cards ect. (if possible). RESIST the urge to try and power it up, this will cause the short and fry your unit. Patience is a key here.
2) Take the electronic device and put it under a heat lamp of sorts (desk lamp is fine). Make sure it is not too close or you will melt the product and cause a fire.
3) WARNING: Make sure you or someone is near it at all times to avoid fire.
4) Leave it there for at least 8 hours.
5) Put the batteries (new ones), SD card, SIM card or whatever it is back in. DO NOT POWER UP.
6) Charge the device (if applicable) for at least 5 hours.
In your case i would try a new set of batteries. or i would try it with the wall adapter (if the connection between the batteries and the device is bad maybe the connection between the adapter and the device is OK).
Hope this helps!

I would try the old rice trick. Put it in a sealed bag with rice. The same thing you would do with a cell phone that went swimming. It may take a week or two but be patient. Remember when putting the new batteries in it, it can take a good long while holding the power button on before it boots. I just put a new set in mine after sitting for a couple months w/o batteries and i had to hold the power button on for a good 30 seconds. Try the rice and then move on from there. good luck.
