My jetbook lite was working just fine while I was reading a book in landscape mode. Then my thumb hit one of the number kyes and the book froze up. I reset the device - no help there. I deleted the book and then reloaded it. Book works fine on the computer but the jetbook hereafter to be known as that pos will not open it it just stays stuck on loading book. I have reset the pos again. No help pos remains an ever maddening fpos.

I went to the ectaco site to check for a firmware update and got one to download that on my netbook is an executable file version .0.16e that froze at 28% extraction.

Now I am really getting frustrated. Like it isn't bad enough the tv died the other day, only tv in the housebut now I can't eve read?

I bought the jetbook because of its ability to handle ereader or pdb books. I live on a fixed income I cannot replace the tv or the darn jetbook right now. Please someone help.

By any chance, do you have parentheses "(" or ")" in the filename?

Jetbook have problems opening files that have parenthesis in the filename. If that is the problem, the solution is easy: rename the filename, removing parenthesis.

Hey,

Sorry to hear about the difficulty. Please let me know
1) Is it only that book that is not working?
2) If other books are not working are they all a common format?
3) Did you try a master reset? (take the batteries out and leave them out for 10 minutes.
4) Are books on an SD card or device hard drive?

Please let me know so i can better help you out with everything!

This was the only book with the problem and it was running fine until my thumb hit the number button. There are no parenthesis in the name of the book.

I did do a master reset, several times. And the book is on an SD card.

Tried updating the firmware with the 0.16e upgrade on my netbook but it did not work. I have a funny feeling the jetbook does noot like my os x Leopard intel mac.

If I remember correctly the upgrade file at Ectaco's website is a 7zip executable file. You will need a Windows computer to open it and copy the files to a SD card.

Jerry,

I already left a suggestion to leave the update files in zip format. zip is almost a de facto standard.

Executable files are OS dependant or rely on some fancy interaction from the user to openit on another OS.

Hey,

Thanks for your patience, sounds like a weird little quirk. Most of the time if it is just one book that is having a difficulty it is a problem with the book rather then the reader.
1) If the book is on your PC, delete it from the SD and move it from your backup source on the PC.
2) Try putting the book directly on the harddrive of the unit.
3) Try other books of the same format (or from the same download location) and see if you still have difficulty.

If still no luck please contact the support team at [email protected] and request a .ZIP of the firmware download. The newest firmware should fix all difficulties you might be having with the device.

Hope this helps!

Hey,

I just contacted the webmaster at www.jetBook.net about this and the technical team. They should respond to me or just change it within a week or so.
Thanks again for the feedback!
