As a prospective customer I have wrote a question to Customer Service about combining both English-Greek and Russian-English dictionaries on one MMC card. But Sales Manager has promptly repsonded that it is not possible and I will need to switch the cards back and forth, depending on the dictionary I need to use which is not convenient. After reading though some of the forum questions I found similar one from JimmySpeeks about ES 800 dated 01/10/2006 21:07:43 Subject: Ectaco ES800 Eng to Spa Dictionary & PhraseBook. But lucky him, the response from the Sales Director for the required combination was mentioned to be possible. Please, let me know why English-Greek and Russin-English dictionaries can't be combined on one MMC card.

OK, I don't work for ECTACO, but I may be able to offer this technical explanation:

The Partner scans the MMC card for a dictionary on startup and loads the Operating System. The operating system loads the first (only one) dictionary it finds for use, and cannot support multiple instances of the same dictionary application for multiple languages. This is why you can only use one language pair at a time. Honestly, the software could be modified to allow multiple languages, it seems like either a mistake in planning by the programmers, or a purposeful ploy to get you to buy more MMC Cards.

(This is based on my own experiences with the ER800 and trying to load a Japanese MMC Card.)

Dear Diana,

You have 128mb MMC card.
Each language pair requires around 100mb.
That's why it's impossible to load two language pairs on one 128mb MMC card.

However, you may purchase MMC card with larger capacity.

Please contact [email protected] for details.
