I just purchased the TL-2TH translator as a present and we are really very deeply disapointed. I found the advertising not only misleading, but actually claims to perform functions that it cannot do. On the page http://www.ectaco.co.uk/ECTACO-TL-2Th under Specification, in the Dictionary area - it clearly says Pronunciation is in both Thai and English - however, the pronunciation is only in English... Nowhere on the page does it explicitly say that it does not read out Thai entries in the dictionary.

Only the phrase book is read vocally in Thai. Why on earth would i want to pay so much for a dictionary that pronounces words I already know in a language I speak fluently? I'm trying to imagine any situation where someone would require a phrase book in a foreign language, but a dictionary that speaks their native language and I really cannot think of any. It's about as much use as a chocolate tea pot.

Unless there is someway to either get the thing to speak in thai or I get my money back in full (including the cost of returning the product), I am going to go online to find as many advertising watch dogs as possible to report this as a complete scam.

Dear Donalc,

Yes, it is indicated in the specification that there is Thai and English voice, and it is true.

The part that you refer to has a hyperlink where it is clearly indicated that the device has 2 voice capabilities - one for the phrasebook and one for the dictionary.

It is also clearly indicated in the product description that the Dictionary section has an English speech synthesis and the PhraseBook has both English and Thai voice.

I am sure you can see now that the product description is absolutely clear about these things.

Nevertheless, we understand your frustration and will provide you with a free update with the fully featured Thai voice as soon as we release it.

Alternatively, please feel free to return the ordered product according to our return policy.

An update with the fully featured Thai voice would be most appreciated! Thanks,
