i purchased a very large ebook, 41mb, and when i tried to open it, i got the error message "file too large". i moved several folders of books to my sd card thinking that the internal memory may need the space to open the book. no such luck. i then thought that i might be a ram issue, but i don't know if this would be correct. has this ever happened to anyone else? does anyone have an explanation and solution? or maybe this is a jetbook issue of a defective device?

Hey,
Thanks for the question. So you tried putting the book on the SD card as well as the JBL SD card but no luck. What format was the book in?
I will pass the information along to the tech team to see why it is behaving like this. Thanks!

Hey,
Thanks for the question. If this is a DRM .PRC file the jetBook lite will not support it and that could be causing the problem. Hope this helps!

The best way that I've found to handle large manuals on the JBL is to convert them into HTML
and create a folder for that book alone, with the .html file and all the supporting files and
folders.
Fortunately, your mobi/prc file is just that inside a package. You can Google to find tools to
unpackage the prc file or go from "Mobi2HTML".
You may want to also try the MobileRead Forum as well as this one, for info/discussion about
ebooks and the "Ectaco jetBook".
Luck;
Ken

drm .prc was not the problem. i reformatted the sd card to fat32 thinking that might solve the problem. still "file too large" error message. any other ideas? maybe a defective unit and i need to send it back?

If there is no DRM involved then there are several ways to convert the file and divide the CSS.
Have you tried just converting the file in Calibre? You might try converting to .pdb and seeing if that will load in the JBL.
I already mentioned that HTML works best with such large files, in my experience, try having Calibre convert the .prc to
an HTML folder.
Most ebooks are under 500KB, you shouldn't expect a device made to handle such files to handle a 40+MB file, without
some adjustments to the file.
Luck;
