Hey,
Thanks for the question, the JBL does not have a PID as far as i am aware. Just a Serial number and a UPC which can be found on the box of the device. Hope this helps!

If you really want to approach the forum with the attitude that you are presenting technical questions of import,
you need to provide a better framework in your questions. Anyone with a measure of technical experience
will have run across the use of PID as a term in a number of contexts. You need to explain why it is you need
a PID and the context in which you plan to use it. A PID is often a generated data point like a checksum.
Luck;
Ken

sorry ken, i was under the impression that folks on the forum would know what i was talking about when i mentioned the device pid. i will be more vigilant in future posts to be more specific on matters of a technical nature and why i need such information. i needed the pid to register my device with ebook stores, even though at some places a device pid is not needed. thanks for your comment.

thanks for the reply. it's good info to have. maybe a good thing to put a sticky or something like that for others new to the jetbook to have.

Normally the ID that you need is generated by or through the software that the ebook store provides -or-
the software needed for the DRM scam involved.
For instance; ADE uses an "AdobeID" that must correspond with both the software on your PC and your
"authorized" device. The ADE software creates this ID when it sees an attached device or storage media
with an ".adobe-digital-editions" folder containing only a "device.xml" file. (You can even trick it into
treating an SD card as if it were a JBL.)
Luck;
Ken

That's a bit of a harsh first response, Ken, no? kdd6 was no doubt asking about the PID used to authorize Mobipocket books that have DRM (excuse me, digital rights management *wink*) attached to them. The jetBook - Lite doesn't support Mobipocket DRM, and so doesn't have a PID. Since the jetBook - Lite has Mobipocket / Mobi support, it's a reasonable question.

Hmm... what was it that makes you think he was talking about Mobipocket DRM? Perhaps the
four threads he started about his problem with DRMed .prc files, where he was told that the
JBL does not support that DRM scam? Or was it where he was lamenting the lack of technical
support to answer his questions?
His choices are to learn how to remove DRM or only buy ebooks without DRM or those that
make use of one of the three DRM scams that the JBL does support. (More choices than
he would have with a Kindle or a Sony or most any other dedicated ebook reader.)
He has been told that the JBL does not support Mobi DRM, and my last post in this thread
told him where he can get a PID to read his purchase with (or remove the DRM with).
Luck;
Ken

A) the fact that this is an ebook-reading-device forum, and the term "PID" has only one common usage in that context
B) his other questions about Mobi content.
