Improvement suggestion for dictionaries  XML

I've tried a few Pocket PC/Windows Mobile version of the dictionaries. The only sticking point is:

In languages where nouns have grammatical gender, it should be displayed. Currently, the gender is not displayed if the noun is the headword.

As an example, in the French-English dictionary, "papier" is masculine. You can only get this information if you switch to English->French mode, and search for "paper". I am quite sure that all users would like to have this information even in French->English mode, since this is how conventional paper-based dictionary present the information.

Hi, I think your product is really great. i'm an English speaker living in Switzerland, trying to learn German, and i use Lingvosoft on my treo. i have a few more suggestions, some seem very important. others are just ideas. I'm making a separate post for each since they can't fit in one:

the necessary-

1) after the demo is finished and the product has been registered, elimintate the advert at startup. it's only a couple of seconds but when i need to make a quick traslation, it seems to last forever. and since i already paid for it, advertising seems unnecessary.

2) On the T5 and treo, the 5 way navigation is a bit confusing. i can't figure out how the attention is directed from the heading field to the results field and back. i can't tell when it's happened unless i try to scroll up and down (and then i lose my place), because there is no hightlighting of the box/field, and both the header field and results field have a word highlighted at all times. for example: after a word is entered, the up key could activate the headings box, and the down key could activate the results box (since this would always begin the highlight at the top of the results list and work down from there). While either of those boxes is active, the left and right keys could jump from one to the other, and to the Change Direction drop-down, and the Clear, Cut, Copy, and Paste icons. The right key could move the selection right/down, and the left key left/up. While the results field is highlighted, the center key could select the highlighted word for reverse-lookup.

3) A few more large icons at the bottom of the screen for users who navigate with their fingers:
1. Change-Direction icon
2. a "Back" icon for going back to the original word after a reverse-lookup (although this could also be acheived more easily with the 5 way nav once it is improved)
3. Spellcheck, and
4. a "select all" icon so the word can be quickly copied/pasted into another application.

Also, since some users have full keyboards on their device, perhaps a preference to remove the virtual keyboard icon.

the ideas-

1) a way to mark a word once it is looked up? this would provide a good way to keep track of the words that a user repeatedly looks up so they can be practised later.

2) a way to allow editing of the database so new words can be added, or expanded to allow for regional variations? (other translation programs create a separate "custom" database, and allow switching when an alternate def exists)

3) pronunciation? for non-phonetic languages, it would be really great (and for german just a stress mark would be helpful). Otherwise, is there a way to upgrade to the talking version?

4) again a lot to ask, but when learning german, for instance, it isn't always obvious if a word is a verb or a noun, and sometimes when i enter a conjugated verb, i get no result because only the infinitive is in the database.

Thanks alot!
