I'm searching for a Japanese-English digital translator product which will allow me to input sentences or words in Japanese characters (must be able to input in Katakana, Kanji and Hiragana) and then have the word/sentence translated into English.
The only thing though is that most of the Japanese text I will be translating is on printed material and I will not be able to simply copy and paste text like you do with SYSTRAN 5.0. So whatever this software is, must have some kind of Japanese Character Radical Search capabilities (which will allow you to pick the japanese characters and put them into a sentence).
Can anyone suggest the most appropriate and user-friendly software for this?
We have Japanese-English software dictionaries for Pocket PC and MS Smartphone. Updates for Palm OS will be released this week. Unfortunately currently we do not have desktop version, but this will be available within this summer. Current apps provide input in Katakana, Kanji, Hiragana and also the search by Romanization.
I'm not sure what you mean when say "this software must have some kind of Japanese Character Radical Search capabilities (which will allow you to pick the japanese characters and put them into a sentence)", but it seems they have. My advice would be to install trial version and check it out
