I had to watch it several times to "get it." I assume the point is that because the Arab could not read English he didn't understand the importance of not taking the photo. My other assumption is that the lesson regarding the English speaker is that he could not communicate well enough with the Arab to make him understand the importance of not taking the photo. Or was it that the English speaker was too rude and abrupt with the Arab and could not communicate well enough to make him understand? I think it's a great idea but I had to analyze it too much to "get it" and still am not sure I did get it.

Hi,

You got it! Sorry for all the ambiguity... The next one is a lot more fun though. Pure and simple. See it here: www.lingvosoft.com/cartoons

These are terrible. The drawing is mediocre, the humour, pathetic.

A woman sits down in a French restaurant.
I want something "green and fresh", says she
So the waiter brings her live frogs
She screams, slaps him and we get to see her underwear for no reason.

All this delivered at a crawl; the complete lack of any comedy timing
almost makes it funny for the wrong reason.

Who on Earth would actually order something "green and fresh"?
In a restaurant, you choose something from the menu. Most people
do this. If you wanted a salad like I think she intends, then you would
ask for "a salad".

Now, we've all heard that the French occasionally eat frogs legs, but
this waiter apparently keeps a stock of live frogs. On top of that, he is
suprised if a customer is somewhat freaked out when they appear.

What is the waiter's strategy?
Every day, he comes to work and brings a selection of new frogs with
him to add to his frog detention area. I supose he even has to feed them.
His goal in life is to provide slight amusement for himself by being able to
misconstrue someone's order enough to serve them live frogs. And
today is the nadir, as someone orders something as generic as "green
and fresh". You'd think he'd be rolling around on the floor with mirth when
he reveals les frogs, but no, he is apprently suprised by her reaction.

I can only imagine his pathetic attempts with other customers.
"Ah waiter, I would like a salad to start with and then the steak."
"Ho ho ho. So you would like something 'green and fresh', non?"
"Well, if by that you mean a salad, then yes, that is what I'm asking for."
"Go on - say 'green and fresh'..."
"What? I asked for a salad. Do you not understand?"
"Say 'green and fresh'"
"What is wrong with you?"
"Just say it"
"Oh good grief. Alright. 'Green and fresh'"
"Ah ha ha ha. Look, here are some frogs. Ho ho ho. Do you get it?"
"Well, I clearly asked for a salad. Even the link between frogs and
'green and fresh' is somewhat tenuous. Do you imagine that this is
funny?"
"Well, I liked it. I thought it was funny."
"Yeah? Well, get the manager over here. We'll see how funny you
think it is when you're unemployed."
"Wait a minute. You forgot to show me your underwear..."

In short - your cartoons suck!

Even better, the strapline is "Treat animals and people nicely. Learn a
language." Which language is it that lets me talk to animals? I'll pay money for that. How moronic...

Yes, of course the Frenchman would bring frogs to the Ugly American. Now where can I see this Arab cartoon mentioned in an earlier post? I hear those are hot these days.
