Hi there,

Just got your Pocket PC Flashcards and it looks very good indeed!

But I want to add my own dictionaries. I know you can, but it seems limited to about 10 words per dictionary. If I try to add another word, then it seems to reset and 'Info' reports that there is just one pair in my dictionary.

How can I add more to my dictionary?

Regards,

Rob

Dear Rob,
We have checked with the latest release of the ECTACO FlashCards and found no problems adding on 20+ words to the word bank. You may be encountering this problem with an earlier version of Flashcards. In that case, downloading an upgrade is a must! However, it might be a good idea to contact our support staff:

If I create a new dictionary, after I enter 10 words and translations, the dictionary seems to reset itself and the previous words are deleted.

Also, is there a way of creating dictionaries outside of my IPAQ on my main PC and then transferring into Flashcards?

Despite the flashy look I find the flashcard program rather crappy.

No offense, that's what I see. It crashes and it loses entries.

As we have pointed out before, the problem you are describing is attributed to early FlashCards versions, below 1.1.9. In fact the newest update of FlashCards is about to be released, please direct your wishes and suggestions for the new product to our support staff or express them in this forum. Also, our FlashCards Builder – a program that lets you create FlashCards word banks from your own databases is now out. Please try our updated products! http://www.lingvosoft.com/Pocket-PC-Language-Learning-Software-items/

I bought the Flashcard for English-Hebrew so that I could test myself on new Hebrew Words but the words in the supplied databases are more complex than I needed. I wanted words like Mother, Father, Home, School etc. So I was told to use the Flashcard Builder. Wonderful idea, the only problem is, I don't speak or write Hebrew. I don't have a Hebrew keyboard and I certainly don't know how to add the little accent marks to the words. It's similar to the voice mail message that asks you, in English of course, if you would like to hear this message in Spanish. So the question I am asking is: Who can help me write the flashcards? Or better yet, has anyone written any Hebrew flashcards that they would be willing to share or sell?

Thank you
Scott

I have successfully loaded a dozen new flashcard databases into my HP pocket PC using MS excel spreadsheets saved as unicode text and then configured with the flash card builder. It has always worked flawlessly. One of my databases has 8 groups of 50 blocks for 400 additional words alone. And this is with Russian, which of course uses a Cyrillic alphabet. I personally comend the software writers on an outstanding tool for database conversion.
