Hi, I brought one of these from a Ebay reseller 4 months ago and have been very happy with it until now. Yesterday, whilst reading a book it refused to turn the page or respond to any other buttons. The only way I could get it to turn off was by removing the battery's.
Now, after replacing the battery's it, when turned on, displays the jetBOOK-lite first page and just stays there with the green activity led on and goes no further in the boot procedure. I have tried the reset button on the back with the same result - is there anything that can be done to rectify this please?

Hey,
Thanks for the question and sorry about the difficulty.
Please let me know if the device will go into the diagnostic screen.
1)Reset the device
2) Hold 3 buttons. ON, Zoom and menu(looks like a file folder).
3) When you see the "jetBook" screen release the "on"
4) When you see the diagnostics screen #1-16 release all other buttons.
Pleas

I have same exactly problem than Tony. Could we return to old firmaware?

Hi, Thanks for the reply - I just tried that but it still just sat at the boot screen.
I have also tried to reinstall the files as per the upgrade page but it did nothing but I have a question about that which is - When putting the contents of the zip file on the SD do you put the 3 folders on the SD or just the contents of the 3 folders all in the root dir?
Tony - Australia
Hey Tony,
When you do the firmware update you should extract the firmware from your PC to the SD card. When you are done you should have 3 folders on the SD card.
Can the device enter the firmware update screen?
Please let me know how it turns out.
That is what I did and NO, it is still the same so I guess as I brought it on Ebay from a reseller (no receipt) it's one for the bin - shame I was very happy with it until it froze.
Tony Australia
Exactly same case. Could we return to old firmaware? How?

[b]Silence came the helpful reply?
I think that if you are going to allow resellers of your product you should make sure that they supply everything required for your customers to make warranty claims when they are needed - It does not do you product reputation to have disgruntled owners asking for help and receiving little in the way of solving the problem.
Tony Evans - VERY unhappy Australian customer.

I am making independently same action than Tony are doing and I am getting same result, no mater I am in Brazil probably witrh another complete diverse serial number sequence. I sell machines all over the world and also some jetbooks from Ectaco and I will stop it since product do not have any solid support.
I tried also to make a fresh download of 15g firmware version and again same thing. It's really a shame for Ectaco so poor work on these firmware upgrade. I will never tried that if I known that I was like experiment mouse. I am BSE in EE and I never saw such lack of respect with customer. They must said that it is only a beta test, not a version.

I have same opinion. I bought from my office in USA and reseller couldn't explain like to proceed RMA. He only could tell me Ectaco phone number in USA. No address, no web page, no rules to ask warranty. I think that Ectaco could trust more on their product since I was happy with it untill this desastrous firmware instructions. That way I don't see future...

Hey,
Thanks for your patience with everything. If you purchased it over eBay you dont need a physical receipt. Any proof of purchase will do (an email confirmation, invoice, anything really).

Marcelo, you say you are having exactly the same case and want to flash back. However tonyevans cant even get to the Firmware update screen so that would be a flashback would be impossible for both of you.
Please let me know your symptoms as they appear not to be the same thing.

Hi Jerry,
You already know the situation with the unit but you seem to think that people keep all thier emails forever - well I don,t so as a concequence do not have any from the seller not that I think it would prove anything even if I did as I could make up anything myself????????
The problem I have is obviously a know problem with your product and as such shoud be fixed by your company WITHOUT question.
I did contact your support and all I got was a standard "Re-flash it with Etc Etc." No very helpful at all and no information has been forthcoming from you as how to proceed from here.
NOT a good look for EXACTO.
