I bought my ECTACO JETBOOK about 2 years ago. The serial number is JB-512664, if that helps you identify the model and software.

I have used it only a few times to read the already included public domain books. I have tried to download a couple of other books from my computer, but I get them in a NINE divided format which makes them impossible to use.

I have an Amazon account, a Barnes & Noble account, as well as Chicago Public Library, all of which I read on my laptop.

I have tried several times to download something to the JETBOOK, but always end up frustrated in my failures.

PLEASE ASSIST!

First, if you don't have one, get an SD or SDHC card. 1-2gig is plenty big enough. Ideally look for one that comes with a plastic USB to SD adapter.
Or pick up a seperate adapter (about 3$)

Which basically turns the SD card into a flash drive, letting you plug it into your laptop.

Then simply download books to a folder on your laptop. Copy the books to the SD card. Then with the Jetbook on, insert the SD card.

You should get a small message saying that its updating the file list.

As to why the adapter, well the usb plug on the Jetbook is limited to the old, slow USB 1.1. Yes you can use the cord, but its slower and more complicated.

The USB to SD adapter is USB 2 and will move books 5 - 10x faster.

Keep in mind that putting books in the Jetbook or on the SD card more than 1 folder deep can cause slowdowns and problems.
Example Books/mystery/Robb,JD/Death Series/Death1.txt

Much better to use a simple file structure such as
Books/Robb,JD/death1.txt
Or for the SD

I have registered at Mobile Read.

Thanx a lot for your help.

I do most of my e-book reading on my laptop early in the morning, so I really have had little opportunity to even try the jetBook.

But I will try your suggestions in the near future, and i am sure they will be of great help.

Knowledge, help, and especially courtesy are apparently lacking in the person you posted in this thread just before you did.

Thanx again!

Well Jerry is actually a good sort, just way over worked, and not enough time actually reading on Jetbooks I think.

Glad I was able to help, give me a PM on the MR forums if you have questions.
