I bought my jetBook Lite less thab 6 weeks ago. I downloaded my first book 4 days ago from Barnes & Nobel. The title shows on the SD card in the table of contents. But the book will not load. When the hour glass icon disappears, the screen remains blank. Any suggestions other than giving it the navy floatation test?
Thanks

Hey,
Thanks for the question! What firmware version do you have? Go to the main screen, settings, system settings and then firmware version.
Please let me know!

How do you transfer files to the root directory of the SD card? That is how do you find the root directory? I'll be trying it tonight.
Thank you!
Hey,
Thanks for the question! When you Plug your unit to the PC you can go into "my computer" There you will see (e:) Removable disk and (f:) removable disk.
Mine is "E" but you can remove and then insert the SD card to see which one it is.
Then double click on it (on (e:) in my case). Now you are in the Root of the SD card. You should remove all files and folders from there and back them up with the files given in the firmware update.
Hope this helps!

Perhaps the easiest way to prepare an SD Card for updates is to just
do a quick format of the SD Card.
Once you have established the drive letter of your SD Card in it's
reader hooked up to your PC (or if you leave it in your JetBook, as
it appears when the USB cable is plugged in):
Right click on that drive in "My Computer" and select the "Format"
option.
Chose FAT (for updates, FAT32 for ebook library SDs)
Check the Quick Update option.
Then you are sure to have an SD Card with nothing left over and that
you will only have the Root showing to move the update folders into.
Luck;
Ken

While I know the "recommended" method is to use a FAT formatted SD card with no files or folders other than the update files and folders for JBL firmware updates, I can tell you that I've successfully updated three different JBLs from a FAT32 formatted SD card without removing any files or folders that were already on the card. Just like with the beta firmware, you should upgrade this way at your own risk. I'm just here to tell you that it's been my experience that you don't have to use an empty FAT formatted SD card for firmware updates. A FAT32 formatted card with your books on it will work just fine. You should always maintain a backup of your SD cards contents anyway.

Yes, and I have done a couple of updates with FAT32 SD Cards, but
there is no good reason not to minimize the factors that could impact
on the process. It is easy to do and why not use the most compat

Hey,
Sure, no problem! Please find the steps below.
1) Locate the file on your PC.
2) Once you find the file connect your jetBook to the computer using the USB to Mini UBS cord.
3) Your computer should display a notification that the device was connected.
4) Locate your jetBook under the "my computer" section of your PC. It will show up as an external storage device.
5) Double click on this storage device [might show up as (e:) or something]
6) You will see a folder that says books there, drag the book from your PC to the books folder on the device.
7) Safely remove the hardware using a green arrow like icon in the bottom right of your PC.
8) Go to this book on your jetBook. Click "ok"
