I understand that Jet Book Lite will soon have another firmware update that will permit the e-reader to handle Adobe DRM books. Phil's email on July 12, 2010, said it would be about two weeks, which would put it at approximately August 1, 2010.
Has anyone heard about this?

You mean like Ectaco's announcement that it would be on all JB & JBL
shipped after 22 July 2010?

We are all waiting even those of us with little interest in DRM scams,
or might decide that the changes in the readers epub and pdf function
are not to our liking, and end up sticking with the current firmware.

Luck;
Ken

Hey,

Please read the rules before posting and please do not post topics in all caps. I will change this for you.

Yes the update is supposed to be available soon. I personally am testing a version 0.16b but it has too many bugs for my liking and we are withholding the release. Should be any day now i hope. I would like to have a version up for beta testing this week but i can only wait for my product manager to give the go ahead.

Hope this helps!

I put 16 again on a few weeks ago, and after using it for a week, found that the place marks for a few books I was reading was several days behind. (I say place marks as opposed to bookmarks, which is a different subroutine- the one with the paper clip icon). I am not sure if the lost place marks was ever FULLY resolved. The books did not go back to page 1, but 20 pages or so prior to where I left off. Is anyone else having this problem?

In the meantime I went back to 15D but will try 16b when it comes out.

I'm not sure how bookmarks are handled with the change in reading
programs supported by the new 0.16b, but you might want to give it
a try, as it appears destined to be the firmware base for the JBL.
It is proving to be quite stable so far, so even if it is not the answer
to all your wishes, it is a good one to use until a perfected firmware
comes around.

Just resumed reading posts today. I think I will try 16b and will post back. The only thing that slows me down is that I have to open all the books I am currently reading and jot down the page numbers because place marks are lost when updating firmware. I may use FAT32 on the reader 100MB memory as well, as discussed in another post.
