Earlier this year I upgraded my jetBook Lite to version .15d realeased on the jetBook website with no issues. Yesterday I decided I would download and upgrade my JBL to the .16 new release on the website.
The update went through but resulted in the unit not seeing any internal memory or being able to see the SD card. I tried to flash the firmware back to the previous .15d, but at this point all I get are hardware errors.
I have tried the re-flash back up to .16 several more times, but it does not change anything. The unit still will not see internal memeory or the SD card even though it is flashing from the SD card.
Also, I can no longer see the unit when connected to my PC through the USB cable.
Any ideas?

I called the 800 number on the main screen of the jetbook and was told to send the unit back with a copy of my purchase invoice.
Should I have an RMA# or anything?

Hey,
Thanks for the question! Yea i think an RMA number is required and speeds up the process a little bit. I would contact tech support for it.
At the very least have a tracking number so you can prove your item arrived to Ectaco.
Hope this helps!

May not need to after all...
With the help of some users on the Mobileread forums I have the JBL updated to v0.16 and fully operational.
One thing I didn't do prior to the firmware update was backup the books on internal memory. Is there a complete set of the pre-loaded books available for re-download anywhere?

Hey,
Glad to hear everything worked! What did you do to make it recognize on your pc? maybe the info will help others with the same problem.
And yes you can find all of the preloaded books here at this link. http://www.jetbook.net/freebooks.php?refid=29532
Hope this helps!

After flashing the update to v0.16, the reader refused to see internal memory and the SD card from within the jetBook software. Any attempt to flash back to the previous v0.15d-b resulted in a hardware error.
A suggestion from a Mobileread member was to boot into the system menu:
Reset
Hold in power, menu and zoom
Release power when power on screen comes up
Release menu and zoom when system menu appears.
From the system menu, I performed:
13 - Reflash NOR
7 - restore factory defaults
I reset the JBL and ended up with a unit that had firmware 0.16 and patch 0.15d-b. I then went through the steps to put v0.15d-b back on and had a working jetBook again.
I then performed another flash update to v0.16 following the factory reset steps above and then doing a normal update with the v0.16 files.
So far the reader seems to be working fine with the 0.16 update fully loaded.
---
The only drawback was that I ended up with a completely wiped internal memory...
..and no

Well, maybe not.
I just tried to update to the latest firmware and all I am getting is hardware errors on the JBL.
I tried to check the flash memory from within the system menu and all I get is an error graphic on the screen. Internal memory checks fine.
I guess I will be sending the JBL back for repair after all.

Hey,
Yea that definitely sounds like the best idea if the device is having odd difficulties like this. We will certainly be able to replace it with a brand new unit for you. Contact a tech support rep directly at [email protected] or 718-728-3605. Make sure to have an order number or name if you ordered through us. Or proof of purchase if ordered through another retailer.
Hope this helps!

Big thank you to everyone involved in exchanging my problematic jetbook lite for a new one. It just arrived and I am checking it out now.
It has the latest firmware and seems ready to go.
Thanks again.
