Hi,
my Display was flickering! I received a new Jetbook without it. But, can you (Jerry or Phil) tell us, what was wrong with those Displays? What Hardware failure is it? Why is the Display wrong in the direct Sun, and not in the Shadow? Any Answers?

Hey Maik,
Not positive what is wrong with the screen but it is definitely a hardware and not a software problem. I would guess it is either a problem with the display itself or the connection to the display. There is no optic sensor or anything so light shouldn't have any effect maybe it is just more noticeable in the light?
Hope this helps!

Hi Jerry,
is it noticeable in the Light. In the Sunlight. Not in a room with lights, there is nothing to see. In the past, i show a book in the direct sunlight to my parents, and girlfriend. My parents, they are farsightedly, saw a little bit of flickering. My girlfriend saw nothing. I`am farsightedly and i saw it very much!
Could it be a relation of what "Eyes" we have? A good Eye see nothing, a bad Eye see more flickering?
It`s a theory not more. But, not a theory, it`s true, i love the jetbook! Go on guy`s! (sorry about my english)
Greatings from hot Germany (101 Fahrenheit), to hot NY, which Fahrenheit?

Hi,
It could be the case. I think the screen is made up of different "levels" so your eyesight might allow you to see a different level where the problem is occurring.
Its 92 degrees Fahrenheit here, almost too hot to read outside!

Hi Jerry,
and thanks for the answer! You and i sweat! The sun has no "display issue". Enjoy the summer, and go on.
God bless you,

I have read all of the posts plus those from other ereader forums but i can't find an actual answer to my question. My (week old) jbl flickers but I do not want to send it back due to the cost of the postage. Is the failure critical? Will it get worse over time or is it just an annoyance? Personally, the flicker does not bother me and if it does not get worse i don't care about it but if it is the beginning of a total failure... plus does it only flicker with ePub or other file formats? Mine seems to only flicker with ePub but pdb and txt seem ok.

Hey,
Many people send the device in if they see a problem so i have not experienced whether or not it causes a problem in the long term.
In any case if you do hang onto it and it leads to some sort of failure it should still be available for replacement.
It is hard to say for sure what your jetBook will do because every jetBook is different.
Hope this helps!
