I have found some special formatting for plain text (TXT) files:

4 empty (CRLF only) lines prior to any text will start the text on a new page and make it bold and centered until a single empty (CRLF) line is encountered. I have used this to force chapter breaks in my TXT formatted files that I read on my jetBook lite.

Are there any other special text format rules that the jetBook reader will use? I don't mind taking a a few minutes in an editor to clean up a file before sitting down to read. Also, a search/replace on an HTML document can be easy to do in some editors to get a cleanly formatted text file.

Hey, that's an interesting question! Maybe some of our more seasoned users who messed around with this type of formatting will be able to help out.

Users? I was hoping an actual Ectaco developer could shed some light on this. I have been in several user groups and no one else seems to know.

Hey steven522,

Thanks for the question. The jetBook was intended to read files as they are. If their is a way to manipulate the files so the jetBook sees and displays them differently I'm not sure how this is done. You could try someone from our technical support line if you like but again this seems to be a more advanced question.

If you find any more formatting possibilities please feel free to post them, you will be among the first!

After you do your 4 X CRLF if you do two more CRLF after the target character string and then do two more CRLF after the second Character string.

The first string is not only separated to a new page but it also has a larger bold font.

The second string is also bold but regular size font and then subsequent strings are normal.

I believe a read this some where and played around as well. I believe this is tied into the reader installed on the device.

I guess one could find an e-book txt format that looks good and view it withing a Word processor to see what is used to influence the display.

try it out - I as well have used this to re-org a poorly converted txt file.
