I've called Ectaco for a firmware update but so far haven't been sent one. Can anyone tell me where I can find one? currently i am running on firmware version .14i with a v15 patch... Also- I have downloaded books from ereader- in several formats (wasting a lot of money) and tried to download them to the jetbook lite i have but they dont appear. Whats this Calibre converter mentioned in previous posts??

jetbook.net is the site that has the firmware updates. I'm still waiting on the new JetBook update which was due on Jan 1st.
As for wasting money with downloaded encrypted books, I found that the 2 website I purchased books from gave me a rebate when I told them my reader could not read the books. Try that, maybe you'll recoup some dough.

Calibre is a freeware ebook Librarian that also converts between the various ebook formats. It will not, however, convert DRMed ebooks. The DRM must be removed first. You can find out more about Calibre at:

If you look through some of the other threads on this forum - you should find links to a couple of the updates. I think ".14n" is most current - but someone said that there may be one coming out this week some time.
I've been using books (pdb) from eReader on my JBL and they worked even back when I was using ".14i" that came with the unit. There was a problem with the fonts, but the books were readable. Updating to .14n fixed the font problem, but now there is problem with the pdb files with a line of text dropping off at the bottom of the screen. Supposedly the next update will fix that.

Dear Customers
Current version 0.15 supports all books on www.ereader.com and all PDB-books.
All books at www.barnesandnobel.com are available in PDB format. So You can easily download any ebook from the most popular book store in the USA – Barnes and Nobel.
Please, verify if You have the current version of Jetbook. Go to Settings – System Settings – Firmware Version.
If You have 0.14, please update Your Jetbook to 0.15:

1. Download and unpack the firmware package and then transfer
the Data, firmware, and reflash_nor folders to the root directory of an SD card. Make sure your SD card does not contain any files other than those found in the firmware package.
2. Place the SD card into your jetBook SD slot.
3. Press the Reset button. The device will turn off. Do not turn
it on.
4. Press and hold the On/Off button and right arrow key
simultaneously until the jetBook logo appears on the screen.
5. The update process will take about 10 – 15 minutes.
WARNING! Do not press any keys on your jetBook while updating is in progress!

If you had a change log thread you would not have to post the same information in multiple places. You would just have to post that fact there is a new firmware and what it does. The instructions would always be at the beginning of the thread and you would not have to post it all over and over.

I posted this in another thread, and didn't get a response, so I'll try here. I have purchased a few books from Barnes and Noble, and they aren't in PDB format, they are in EPUB format. It seems most of the new books are all in EPUB format. I can load the EPUB books on the JBL, and it appears that it is going to work, but the book just never loads. Is the EPUB format in DRM ever going to be supported? If not, you probably shouldn't claim to support all Barnes and Noble ebooks.

I am not having any problems reading books in the EPUB format. It may be a DRM problem.

Have you tried loaning the book to someone else to see if they could open it?
