Wondering if you can add the jetbook/jetbook lite firmware support for those languages as it could be very useful,
I will totally buy if it having that. I checked the specs and seems none of them support any eastern asian languages.

Dear Mingde Qiu,

Unfortunately, we do not plan to add any support of the east asian
languges to the jetBook in the near future.

You may subscribe to our newsletter to be the first one to know when we release the firmware update with the corresponding language support.

This is a pretty odd plan. Jetbook is oem-ed from Dr. Yi, which not only has support for Chinese encoding, but also support user-provided fonts.

We sell a separate ebook reader which supports Chinese and is specifically designed for Chinese speakers.

You may find more information on the Chinese ebook reader M218B online at

Many people living in north America don't really need a full Chinese ebook reader. We just need a reader that can read books in different languages and there are a lot of people read books in east asian languages. Besides, M218B is really overpriced.

The current version of the jetBook ebook reader comes with the built-in English <-> German, English <-> Polish, English <-> Russian, English <-> Spanish and English explanatory dictionaries.

We are working on adding other dictionaries, but it is a rather complicated process, especially for the asian languages.

We will add these dictionaries some time later in the future, but this is not likely to happen within the next year or so.

I don't think dictionary is really a big concern for most readers. Not being able to read certain books really is. Since Jetbook lite supports UTF8 encoding, all it needs is to handle more fonts, such as those east asian languages. Gutenberg has many books in such languages encoded in UTF8 format.

I hope Jetbook can learn a trick or two from its Chinese twin, such as the capability of allowing users to provide their own fonts.
