Thank you for the reply. I've contacted the Ectaco Tech Support and received a message which advised me to send the unit back to Ectaco. There is one problem though. The devise was bought on eBay and I do have the receipt for the transaction which was performed via PayPal.
Will this receipt qualify for the one required for the replacement of the unit?
Since the devise was bought in May, 2010, I cannot be sure if it is still under warranty. In other words, I will try to figure it out by providing the serial number of the unit with the hope that Ectaco will be able to establish whether the unit is still under warranty. If it is not, should I send the unit anyway, or forget about the whole thing and buy the new one?
If you have any relevant information, I would really appreciate if you could suggest a more sensible way out of the situation. I mean, all the shipment cost would go down the drain if the warranty has expired.
Thanks in advance,
Elena
Hey,
The serial number unfortunately does not help.
If you have proof of the papal transaction this should be just fine. They are not too picky with the proof of purchase from what i have seen. Hope this helps!

Hopefully someone can help me out with this problem.
I downloaded four books. two of the books had no problems. One book, the format is really messed up (i.e. portions of sentences moved to other parts of the paragraph) and the other book nothing shows up. 187 pages of nothing.
Any suggestions on how to fix this so i can continue to enjoy by ereader

First, what format are these files?
Have you tried re-downloading the files?
You should download and install the free Calibre program, it is useful for converting files as well as organizing ebooks.
Often just running a file through Calibre will correct most problem files.
What is the file size of this 187 page book of blank pages?
Luck;
Ken

Ken,
All the documents are Adobe Acrobat documents. I have tried re downloading the documents to the ereader with the same results. I will try the calibre program and get back to see if that fixed the problem. and the 187 book is actually 87 (thought I saw a 1 in there) and it is 9,745 KB

OK, So they are .pdf files. Now there is some major differences in how .pdf and .epub files are handled depending on
which firmware your JBL is using. So we need to know which firmware is loaded, check under Settings>System settings>Firmware Version.
If it is Software v0.16e Patch v16, then you should try the .pdf files with and without the "Reflow" on.

The Calibre program fixed all problems. Thank you so much. I'll be back if I have any more problems. Best web customer service I have ever encountered.

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to thank you all for your support with the faulty JBL. It was promptly replaced by ECTACO without prolonged discussions and multiple questions. Hopefully, this one will work fine and long enough.
